Our NGO participates in the MD.net (Interreg MED) project, which promotes the Mediterranean Diet as a model for sustainable food culture, nutrition, and local economic development. Through education, innovation, and community engagement, MD.net fosters awareness of healthy eating habits, traditional food heritage, and eco-friendly food production. Our involvement focuses on fermentation workshops, plant-based nutrition, and food awareness, empowering individuals to make informed and sustainable dietary choices while preserving Mediterranean culinary traditions

Carbon Farming CE

The project contributed to climate neutrality by developing agriculture-related solutions for capturing CO₂ from the air and deploying it into the soil. This was achieved through the introduction and adoption of “carbon farming” practices, a business model, monitoring solutions, and policies for storing greenhouse gas emissions as soil organic carbon (SOC).

The project resulted in an enhanced role for the agricultural sector in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to the climate neutrality of Central Europe. Since the concept of carbon farming was still very new in 2020, techniques, business models, and policies needed to be designed and tested.

URBIO BAUHAUS - New European Bauhaus for Increasing Urban Biodiversity

The project aims to create a common Urban Biodiverse Transition Roadmap that includes various measures to halt and reverse biodiversity loss. It will implement pilot actions such as biodiverse islands and urban micro-interventions. In Kranj, the project focuses on the conservation of endangered plant and animal species through the creation of new urban habitats known as biodiverse islands. In Pula, the urban micro-interventions aim to increase the population of three key biodiversity species. Wroclaw’s efforts are focussed on preserving natural patterns of wildlife to contribute to the overall growth of biodiversity. In Erd, a biodiverse urban area with specialised plant species is being developed, including the use of edible plants to further promote biodiversity in the city.

Citizen involvement is at the centre of the project, with participatory design processes and the creation of local BIOCENTUM nodes that take into account residents' visions for a biodiversity-friendly city. The project will also foster long-term collaboration between science, policy and practise to ensure the adoption of these solutions through a Policy masterplan that will guide cities in adopting biodiversity strategies in future urban planning.

3rd Pre-Christmas Research Exhibition

On Friday, December 14th, 2018, the University of Maribor organized the "3rd Pre-Christmas Meeting with Researchers from the University of Maribor," where the university’s competencies and capacities were showcased, with a special focus on the most groundbreaking developmental and research achievements of its members this year. The event took place at the Edvard Rusjan Maribor Airport, and was co-organized by JUENE (Youth Entrepreneurs of the European Union) and the Municipality of Hoče – Slivnica.
The first panel discussion highlighted concrete results of cooperation between the university and industry, including the development of two Pipistrel aircraft powered by renewable fuels – one with a hybrid engine and the other running on hydrogen.
Tinkara Oblak, founder of AQLiving, prepared and led a dynamic panel debate that sparked insightful discussions, connecting innovative research with real-world applications.
"Quality of life is not measured by what we have, but by how we feel, how we live, and how we connect with the world around us."

Wilderness retreat

In June 2021, we hosted a retreat in Bovec, bringing together people of different generations to reconnect with themselves, each other, and the natural world. Through yoga, mindful hikes, and moments of quiet reflection, we embraced the beauty of slowing down and being fully present. Surrounded by the breathtaking mountains, we moved, breathed, and shared stories, creating a space where everyone could find their own rhythm—whether in movement, stillness, or connection with others.

Welcome to AQLiving, a non-governmental organization dedicated to foster well-being through movement, sports, nature and food.

Established officially in 2015, AQLiving is committed to creating a positive impact on individuals seeking a better quality of life.
